Choose the Sports Wood Floor System That Fits Your Venue

Every LDK floor is supplied as a complete system – playing surface, load-bearing layers, joists and resilient pads – not as loose hardwood boards. Surfaces are available in North American maple or Russian birch.

What is inside the floor

More Than a Hardwood Board: How a Sports Floor Is Built

Shock absorption, ball bounce and long-term stability come from the layers you never see. A typical LDK permanent floor is built up from the slab like this:

  1. PE moisture barrier – a polyethylene film that keeps slab moisture away from the timber.
  2. Resilient pads – 12 mm (W01, W02) or 20 mm (W05) sports-floor pads that absorb impact and keep their elasticity under changing loads.
  3. Joists – 24 mm LVL (W01), a double-layer 30 × 50 mm pine grid (W02) or 30 mm LVL (W05).
  4. Load-bearing layer – 12 mm laminated plywood (W01) or 12 mm composite board (W05).
  5. Non-woven fabric – between the rough board and the surface for moisture resistance and noise reduction.
  6. 22 mm playing surface – North American maple or Russian birch, finished with a professional sports floor coating imported from the USA.

Plan the whole gym

Get More Use Out of Every Square Metre

A sports wood floor is a major investment for a club, school or university, so plan the hall to work hard. One full-size basketball court can be divided into three cross-courts for training by adding side-mounted hoops and a divider curtain – two full courts give you six training courts.

For these venues we recommend ceiling-suspended basketball systems, which fold away to clear the floor, with in-ground systems as the alternative. LDK also supplies the lighting and sound for the same project.

FAQ

Sports Wood Flooring FAQ

What is the difference between permanent and dismountable sports wood flooring?

Permanent systems (LDK25W01, LDK25W02) are installed once over a prepared slab and stay in place as the venue’s everyday court. Dismountable systems (LDK25W05, LDK25W03) are built from panels that can be assembled, removed, stored and reinstalled for competitions, events or rental.

Which wood species can I choose?

The 22 mm surface of W01, W02 and W05 is available in North American maple or Russian birch. W03 uses a high-grade maple surface.

What is the minimum order?

One court. Projects are quoted per court area, for example a 32 × 19 m (608 m²) basketball hall.

How long does production take?

Typically 35–65 days after order confirmation, depending on the system and project size.

Do you install the floor?

We supply the complete floor system with a free layout design, site entry requirements and multilingual remote installation guidance. In many regions, installation can also be arranged through our partner installation teams.

How much does a sports wood floor cost?

Cost depends on the system, wood species, court area, subfloor condition and shipping destination. Send us your court size and country for a project quotation.
