How to play soccer in college

Along with the new semester comes soccer, and on Aug. 18, the UVA women's soccer team played their first official ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) game of the season. Two days later, on Aug. 20, the UVA men's soccer team completed their final preseason warm-up.
The first step before entering the stadium is to go through a simple security check. According to the requirements, you can only bring transparent bags of specified sizes into the stadium, and the prohibited items are basically the same as those required for domestic games.
After the security check, there is the ticket window and ticket checking area. General admission tickets are $8 a game, while season tickets are divided into $40 general admission and $70 reserved tickets. However, like other intramural games, the soccer games are free to UVA students, and all you need to do is swipe your student card to get in (see it, earn it!) .
The soccer field is located on a small elevated area, picking up the stairs, a large expanse of green comes into view, and the lush greenery spreads out around the perimeter, which then allows the soccer field to be surrounded on three sides by grassy spectator seats that can be freely seated.
Many spectators brought folding chairs or unfolded tablecloths and gathered on the grass in twos and threes. Many children also prefer to be on the grass, where they can chase, jostle and somersault with abandon, even if they fall down.
On the other side was a metal auditorium, with no fixed seats, and a long bench to sit wherever they liked. The spectators naturally formed a normal distribution around the center line, with more in the middle and less at the ends.
I sat on the grass during women's soccer games, and I sat in the stands during men's soccer games. Regardless of where you sit, the closest you can get to the sideline is only about 2-3 meters, making for an excellent viewing experience!
Around the stands, staff members kindly hand out pamphlets describing the tournament. The front cover features season set photos of the star players.
The inside pages are more informative: the left page contains the history of the two teams' meetings, information about the opposing teams, recent honors collected by the UVA women's soccer team, and the ACC standings; and the right page contains a large list of both teams' rosters, including field position, height, grade, hometown, and high school, in addition to the two teams' subsequent schedules.
Since the men's soccer team is just a pre-season friendly, there isn't such an elaborate booklet, just a single sheet of paper listing the big names of both teams. Perhaps because there was more space, there was also more information on this list, including the players' weights and clubs.
A closer look reveals a number of international students from Italy, Germany and elsewhere. More on this in a later article on player rosters.
After the usual entrance ceremony, the players will have a minute's silence as a pledge of unity (I didn't find a description of this ceremony, but just explained it as I understand it, so if anyone knows anything about it, please enlighten me!) I have not found a specific description of this ceremony, but I have explained it according to my own understanding. Once both sides were ready, a whistle was blown and the game officially began.
Unusually, the time on the big screen counted down from 45 minutes, which is quite characteristic of basketball.
After the start of the game, the children were also excited, they have to pick up the railing, staring intently at the ball. They especially wanted to pick up the ball that fell out of the field, perhaps in their opinion it is a lucky ball.
However, there may be children who look to their brothers and sisters on the field as role models. After all, I was shocked and thrilled to see the players whizzing by 2 meters away from the railing!
They were right in front of my eyes, charging and scrambling, shoveling the ball, raising their arms and pointing to the mountains, and the summer night breeze was filled with the smell of youth.
Whenever there is a goal, the audience will shout: “GoHoos!”; there is a corner kick opportunity, the audience will stomp their feet to make noise for the players to encourage; there is a player rotation, the audience will be regardless of the home and away teams will be applauded. ......
Of course, the players performed well in both games. The women's soccer team edged out rival George Mason University, 3-1, with a frightening 37-2 shots on goal statistic.
The men's soccer team added an extra 30 minutes to the regular season and came out with a solid 6-4 Bowling Green State University victory.
What impressed me the most on opening day was the attitude of the crowd.
There were about two hundred people in attendance for the women's soccer game, and about a hundred people showed up for the men's soccer friendly.
Although it is a campus event, it is actually a sports event for the whole Xia Village. In the minds of the people of Summer Village, the UVA varsity team is like the home team of the city. Supporting such a hometown team became a matter of course for them.
Meanwhile, accompanied by the evening breeze and the beautiful sunset on summer nights, watching football seemed to have become a leisure entertainment for the residents after dinner, like taking a walk, like going on an outing, like camping, and then watching football on the way. So everyone was cozy, relaxed and happy.
It may not seem like much, but perhaps in the families that walk and turn to watch the game over and over again, there are children who gradually become infected and thus fall in love with soccer; perhaps in the students who get in for free, there is a gradually developing fan base; perhaps in the enthusiastic and engaged audience, there is a scout or investor ......
As the sun sets, why not go to the green field to have some fun after a day of study and work?
